WHAT'S BLACK AND WHITE AND READ ALL OVER NEW JERSEY?
(and NY, PA, CT...even NC?)
In 1971, a gentleman by the name of A. Philbrook Smith (he was as intimidating as his name!) churned out a small pamphlet listing art shows in NJ. Using a manual typewriter and a mimeograph machine, he apprised his appreciative audience not only of these shows but where the novice as well as the professional could exhibit and sell their work.
I was one such novice that founding year and I continued to use CE/NJ as a resource for many years, through ownership changes, through style and content changes.
In 2001, my sister and I purchased CE/NJ with the hope of carrying on the thirty year tradition of providing this unique source of "where to see art" in NJ and "where to show art" around the country. It is a lot easier with a computer and Publisher!
Under our management, CE/NJ has expanded its coverage to all areas of NJ, from Cape May to High Point, from Trenton to Sandy Hook and lotsa places in between!
Not only are the visual arts attended to but theatre, music and many more art forms are included to show that NJ is more than the corridor from Philly to the Big Apple!
